Career
History
David Alvey founded TeamPQT in
2005. His vision is to assist a limited number of clients to better meet the
needs of their businesses through better software.
From 2000-2005 David Alvey was
employed with Rational Software as a Senior Software Consultant (Rational
Software was acquired by IBM in 2003). From 2004-2005 he served as
Worldwide Lead for the Process Adoption Community of Practice. In this position
he served clients and the Rational Software technical field by harvesting best
practices related to adopting modern practices. From 2000-2004 he was the Team
Lead/Technical Services Manager for the services delivery arm of Rational
Software which focused on the Federal and Mid-Atlantic market area. Throughout
his term with Rational Software, David personally delivered services to over 30
clients in the Enterprise-level and Project-level areas listed above. In
delivering consulting services, David predominately served C-level,
Director-level, and Project Manager-level positions.
From 1996-2000 David Alvey was
employed with TASC as a Program Manager (TASC was acquired by Northrop Grumman).
While serving as Program Manager, Dave successfully delivered high risk projects
on time and within budget. Projects typically involved development at multiple
sites, subcontractors, and the application of advanced technology. Markets
served included the intel, modeling and simulation communities. David also
served as a project manager representative on the SEPG as TASC was moving from
CMM level 1 to 3.
From 1983 to 1996 David Alvey
was employed with Ford Aerospace as Test Director, System Engineer, and Program
Manager (Ford Aerospace was acquired by Loral and later Lockheed-Martin). As a
Program Manager, David became a turn around specialist for troubled and high
risk projects. He successfully delivered projects involving multiple development
teams and subcontractors in the intel, communications, and modeling and
simulation markets. As a system engineer, David had a key role on a 400 person
project where he led a team that defined the user interfaces and performance
requirements of an intel ground station that would be staffed by approximately
100 people per shift. As test director, David was responsible for selling off a
prototype intel ground station system to the customer. The project entailed over
100 Ford Aerospace engineers and coordination with multiple associate
contractors. Testing included functional, load, security, and user acceptance
tests supported by live flights.
From 1979 to 1983 David Alvey
was a system engineer and officer in the United States Air Force. David was the
Lead Engineer providing technical oversight on development efforts that brought
Synthetic Aperture Radar and associated real time digital image processing,
analysis, and reporting from the labs to an operational capability. In 1980 he
received the Junior Engineer of the Year Award within the Avionics Division at
Wright-Patterson AFB. In 1983 he received the Air Force Medal of Commendation.
